Plantin
Most reference books credit F.H. Pierpont as being responsible for the Plantin® typeface, named after the 16th century type designer, Christopher Plantin. After a visit to Antwerps Plantin Moretus Museum in the early 1900s, Pierpont took stacks of specimens and artifacts to Monotype, where he directed the creation of the Plantin typeface.
